What to wear to an interview at a fitness center?

September 29, 2009 - 8:16 pm 2 Comments

I have an interview on Friday and I really want this job.
Should I dress business or more casual since it is a fitness center?

Dress according to the job you are applying for. In terms of a fitness center, if you are applying for front desk you should dress to look presentable and nice, for management you should dress more like you would if you are applying to a corporation. If the job is a fitness trainer, or similar, if you have a really nice jogging/track outfit, that works great, otherwise dress nice.

Can anyone tell me a gym around the Manila area..which is updated with equipments and doesn’t require you to sign up for 1 year?
Can anyone give me contact details or address of Elite Fitness Gym?

Here is a list that includes Fitness First, Gold’s Clark Hatch, Slimmers’ World, and even the good old YMCA. The link is showing the Makati page, but you can check out the gyms in other Metro Manila locations as well.

Why are there no fitness centers and programs for kids?

September 29, 2009 - 8:16 pm 6 Comments

I was wondering why there are no fitness centers for children. If it is because of liability, why would it be any different than a gymnastics class or something. I am talking about a center that offers aerobics and diet classes for kids. I would enroll my children in a heartbeat. Any ideas??

I have mentioned this to 24 hour fitness many times. I have a son that loves to exercise. I take him to the gym with me. He loves going…until he sits in the play room. He always asks me why everybody just sits around in there. With the rate of child obesity going up…I hope that they can be the start of a new program to help reduce child obesity.

anytime fitness clubs, do they do any pricing deals if you are signing up more than one person?

September 29, 2009 - 8:16 pm 1 Comment

We would like to sign up four people at Anytime Fitness tomorrow but I would like to know in advance if I am going to get a price break or if I am doomed to dissapointment. I would probably go to the one in Tomball, if that is a difference.

yeah actually you do. i orginally planned to sign up by myself and the price would have been a $30 monthy charge. i eventually got my family to become involved and i got a great famly rate discount

What are the physical and athletic differences between a guard and a tackle?

September 29, 2009 - 8:16 pm 12 Comments

During the draft, some espn analysts said that a player would be better as a guard rather than a tackle. I must admit, of all the positions in football, I know the least about the offensive lineman. What physical and athletic characteristics differentiates a player between a guard and a tackle? Height, weight, acceleration off the line, quckness, speed, power, experience, …, something else?

More important than Guard or Tackle is the side of the line in which you are playing. Most Left Tackles would do better at Left Guard than they would at Right Tackle. The physical characteristics are quite similar.
The guard is more likely to be pulled for a wide running play, so perhaps some more leg speed would be helpful on teams that are running those plays. On passing plays the size and strength is paramount for blocking the defensive linemen. That last statement would be most true for teams with pocket quarterbacks. Teams with running quarterbacks might value some more leg speed on all of their linemen.

Does anybody have any suggestions on a marketing angle of sports nutrition products at a fitness club?

September 29, 2009 - 8:16 pm 1 Comment

I’ve recently started a sports nutrition company selling supplements out of a state of the art fitness club. I don’t want to be another statistic by having the company fold after one year in operation. Looking for ideas to increase the viability of this enterprise. Thanks for your time.

why there are no major health clubs in South Louisiana?

September 29, 2009 - 8:16 pm 2 Comments

I live in Texas.. There are as many gyms as there are churches right here, and there are a lot. I go visit South Louisiana and I don’t see a lot of gyms no real major gym that I could be a member at home and when I travel there.

I don’t know wtf that guy is talking about because you didn’t ask how to lose weight.

Any who, I live in St. Mary Parish, we have Curves, Anytime Fitness, Atchafalya Health Club, and like three or four more smaller ones. We do have several privately owned gyms, but our only major franchise is Curves. I think it’s because we don’t have enough population for large companies to put a branch in our areas. Most of our southern parishes have huge area (as in the measurements, land mass, etc) with a very small population.

Here in St. Mary we have a couple gyms that are like $1 a day for out of towners.

Sorry Chick-a-dee, guess it’s back to the good ol’ calesthenics.

Most company’s fall for the old trick of using buzz word from their own blurb, don’t over do it, but make use of it..
