How do you get a job at a fitness center?

November 30, 2009 - 3:48 am 2 Comments

How does one go about gettting a job at a fitness center? I don’t have a degree in fitness, I just thought it would be a fun part-time job because I enjoy working out myself. what kinds of jobs are available in the fitness center? Well besides being a trainer. Has anyone ever worked at one? or is working at one now? How was your experience? thanks. =)
Oh yeah… and what do they look for when you’re applying?

i had a lot of friends when i was in high school that worked at the gym as desk girls. they greeted people and sold drinks and stuff. they got free memberships. what they told me was it was alot of hours for not much pay. to be able to work at one, i would say the only requirement is to be pretty…seriously. even if you’re fat…just be pretty.

How do I start a gym business(trying to start a fitness gym)? What would be my first step? ?

Start -up business

I think the first step is going to a real gym and learning the ins and outs. I just opened my own driving school and i worked there for 6 years before opening my own. Obviously you don’t need to wait 6 years but you do need to know all the lil details stay after work talk with your bosses learn everything, be a personal trainer and make sure your fit cuz no one comes to a gym to work out with someone who isn’t fit themselves. and last make sure there is a need a big need esp in this economy cuz if ur in an over saturated market your business is going to suffer just cuz it’s new.

which swim club is better Los Gatos Swim and Racquet club or Courtside Swim Club?

Well just jeepers … I’ve heard of these things called dual meets where one group competes against another group to determine superiority. I’m certain that someone in Great Britain or Australia can help you to determine the answer to your inane question. Oh … and only those who are members of the clubs give a rats a$$ about who is better.

HEY! I’ve got a question … Which swim club is better, Podunk Aquatic Club or C’mon I Wanna Swim Club? Who can swim faster … Michael Phelps or the flying spaghetti monster?

Does anyone have any good safety ideas for drop in childcare centers at a fitness center?

keep all cleaners in another room

teather all furniture to the wall.

outlet covers for all outlets, with minimal, if any wires low where they can be reached by little hands.

separate sections for age appropriate items

no peanut zone

have a check list of allergies and special instructions for care givers.

cameras in the room for parents to observe at different points in the gym (might be more of a liability than you want though.)

In College, what is the difference between division (I-III) sports, intercollegiate sports, and club sports?

November 30, 2009 - 3:47 am 2 Comments

I understand how the division sports work, but in intercollegiate sports or club sports do you still compete against other schools? What is the time commitment for each? is there any scholarship money available?

Club sports are not part of the collegiate system and are played either in schools that don’t carry that sport (tennis at a school that does not have a tennis team) or in sports that aren’t part of the NCAA – ex. Ultimate Frisbee.

In club sports you play other teams sometimes in a league or just in exhibitions. In most cases the clubs teams themselves organize the league.

intercollegiate is just another name for colleges playing each other so that is the same as div I, II, III etc. The other type you might be talking about is intramural which is sports played amongst teams in the same college. These could be different dorms, frats or other groups putting together a team for a on campus league. example here would be intramural softball or basketball leagues.

For club and intramural there are no scholarships (there are also no sports scholarships in div III.)

What must a information system do to solve the problem of a fitness club to track member’s partciapation?

November 30, 2009 - 3:47 am 1 Comment

Can someone please help me with this question? Please no negative comments!

First you would need to give everyone an access card with one of those magnetic strips. I’m sure you’ve seen one. They are similar to ATM cards used for Bank Machines. This card will contain the members information. Next you put a door with an electronic lock and each time a member enters the club he/she must swipe their card to enter. So each time the member enters the club, the card reader on the door will record the members info. When the member leaves, arrange it so he/she must also swipe the card to exit. So now you have electronic records with how long a member is inside the club.

what is the name of the machine that’s used in many health clubs for weight loss.?

most of the health spas like VLCC and clubs use it. one is used for whole body vibration and one is for heating

I believe they are called Shamicizers and Crocksters, respectively.

No education is required only very helpful.. Gyms such as Anytime Fitness have great programs to get you started and cost roughly 34000-70000 to completely get started(depends if you buy or lease your equipment). Check out there web site and it will give you lots of info.
