What fitness center would you recommend?

November 27, 2009 - 10:02 pm 4 Comments

As far as the rates and facilities being good, which gym/fitness center do you recommend. I was thinking about joining LA Fitness. However I’m not sure how good their rates are compared to others, although their facility seems nice. I do however like that 24hr fitness because it is open 24hrs. And I’m not sure how great Bally Total Fitness is. But overall what fitness center would you recommend? with regards to rates, facilities and customer service.

planet fitness if u do not mind them not having a pool.

Does anyone remember the movie about the lady who has a dance off to save her fitness gym?

It may be an older movie….I remember a little bit about the movie but I would like to see it again…but I can’t recall the name of it.
I remember the lead female had a son in the movie

I think she had brown or black hair…

It’s not a fitness gym, so this is likely a complete miss:
Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo (1984)
IMDb review:
Because one movie wasn’t enough to contain these people, "Breakin 2" picks up where the first movie left off. The three main characters are the same: Kelly (Lucinda Dickey), Ozone (Adolfo "Shabba-Doo" Quinones) and Turbo (Michael "Boogaloo Shrimp’"Chambers). They try to save a youth center named Miracles from the clutches of evil (read: white and unhip) government bigwigs who want to bulldoze the unsafe building and make way for a new shopping center.
Here’s the movie trailer:

I’ll keep looking!

Should i quit the tennis club group lessons?

November 27, 2009 - 10:01 pm 5 Comments

The tennis club group lessons cost around 200bucks a month plus the 20 dollar membership to get my racquet strung but for 15 dollars per racquet. In the group i have the best overall serve i can do the kick serve etc and i can slice drop shot and the other kids cant do it all they can do is topspin which makes for an easy tennis match because of the double faults they do. The assisant coach said that i have the most potential but the tennis coach didnt say anything about me. Also all the kids in the class are all rich white kids (no offense dont flame me) and im the only asian kid. My parents cant keep paying for the fees because my dads in the military currently in Iraq and my mom has to work 2 jobs just to keep up with the upcoming bills. Would it be wise to stop the lessons but still have the membership to get my racquet strung since there is no other stringer within 50 miles or just become my own stringer and i research alot on it.

hey my freind, yes i see what you are saying, well if you feel almost totally bored and not motivated with the group lessons, why not just drop them… sometimes doing the same thing over, we hit a plateau.. that means a point where we do not gain anymore results.. it does seem kinda pricy as well. If i were you, i would just randomly hook up with some of these kids and play them outside of the lessons.. that way you still strengthen your skills and have fun doing it, cause you are playing matches… if u feel u need lessons again after a while, you should try one on one coaching at your conveinence… i hope this has helped you my freind… and yeah i understand what you mean when you say all the kids are rich white kids( sometimes kids who have so much so fast, they do not appreciate what they got), and they seem very different from kids who not have as much. but some of them can be nice as well. take it easy..

Is there a website I can find local gyms/fitness centers?

November 27, 2009 - 10:01 pm 1 Comment

I’m moving to a new house soon and want to get a gym membership for something closer to my new house. I tried google but didn’t come up with much. I’m looking for a gym in Kentucky.

I don’t know if you came across these sites, but here are a Kentucky health club directory and a gym locator:

http://www.healthclubdirectory.com/health_club/State/United_States/KY/Kentucky/

http://gymlocator.com/gym/qadd.html

Also, try searches using the following terms (combined with your geographic location):

health club
fitness center
gym
fitness health clubs
sports cubs
athletic club
fitness membership
fitness gym
personal trainers
gym locator

I’ve been to Kentucky, and perhaps the reason why the results are thin is that some areas of the state have not yet discovered fitness.

Would athletic training be a good major for getting into Med School?

November 27, 2009 - 10:01 pm 1 Comment

Right now I am planning on majoring in athletic training and am still thinking about possibly going to med school after. I was wondering if being an athletic training major would look good for applying to medical school and if it would be a good choice if i took all my prerequisite courses?
Thanks :)

If you are asking if you will get an advantage because of your major, no. If you are asking if it is an acceptable major, maybe. Normally, it really doesn’t matter what you major in so long as you enjoy it. However, be prepared to answer the question why you didn’t go into athletic training.

Is it possible to get my money refunded from Suburban fitness club since I havent been there in months?

November 27, 2009 - 10:01 pm 4 Comments

So I had a payment way that every month they would take out 45 dollars from my credit card for the membership. I forgot about my membership there and its been 11 months or so and multiply that by 45 is what theyve taken from me without me even going there this year. Is it possible to get it back?

♥ Well I suppose that would depend on your fitness club. I got roped into a Balley’s account [[a 3-year one that was supposed to pay me alot of money.]] The payments for my fiance and I were $91.00 each month. We only used it 2 months and then I started college. I was working full time & attending college at night with NO time at all. I let it go for like 2 months hoping I’d find time, but I simply had no time to find. So I tried cancelling it. They informed me that I could not cancel it unless I paid the balance in full or moved somewhere that did not have a Balley’s within 50 miles. I was disappointed and am still fighting them 6 months later. So you will have to read your contract and/or ask them to know for sure what you are entitled too. Good Luck!

Can anyone tell me the benefits of sitting in the steam room at the health club?

November 27, 2009 - 10:01 pm 1 Comment

Besides getting a good sweat and relaxation, are there really any health benefits to sitting in the steam room?

I have read a lot about this subject and from what I have gathered is the sweat from the sauna/steam room removes impurities (junk as they called it) from the body.
It also helps to warm your body from head to toe. With the combination of steam and heat, these important sauna steam room benefits help to reduce all your muscle fatigue and stiffness. Warm steam is beneficial for clearing your sinuses and for clearing out the pores in your skin, leaving you feeling and looking refreshed.
After workouts I sit in it for 10 or more minutes and I have noticed that the muscle soreness is reduced. If I dont go in after a workout I am sore for a little longer…
