How can a person with an athletic build get slim and toned?

January 23, 2010 - 10:59 pm 1 Comment

I am of average/athletic build, and don’t need to lose weight, but would like to slim it down a little. Suggestions?

If you really have an athletic build, why not keep it? I have a athletic build. But

I’m 6′ 4" tall, weigh 317 lbs, have a 67" chest, and 42" waist. I work out with what everyone else calls excessive. My body fat is less than 10% and Doctors call me morbidly obese.

is it worth joining a fitness club or a waste of $?

So I’m thinking about joining Bally’s Total Fitness to kick start me new years resolution since i NEVER get to it. Anyways this girl across the street just got attacked by a guy and I think its b/c she runs around the neighborhood in spandex and is on the phone talking outside, so she caused attention to herself. I live near campus and there are always so many other girls my age (twenties) running. Anyways, should I join a club and end up paying initiation fee and $35 a month to join or should I just continue to try to run outside. I’m in college so I think $35 is a lot of money to spend every month. What should I do?

Doesnt your school have some sort or fitness area?

Are health clubs/fitness gyms profitable?

January 23, 2010 - 10:59 pm 2 Comments

I am interested in opening a health club or fitness gym or whatever you prefer to call it, but I was wondering if it is worth the time and effort. I am trying to start my research, but have found nothing so far on how much would be a reasonable amount to pay myself as the owner. Can anyone help me out?

ive worked at a gym before and basically this is how it works.

Usually a department of operations :front desk/cleaning services/ etc

Sales department: Backbone of the health club -bringing in new members

Fitness Trainers: Maintaining members/ educating them

Alright so basically your gonna have to take out a big loan out to get all of the fitness equipment, permits, etc

This is how you make your money:

NEW MEMBERS (intro fee and monthly fee) monthly fee is residual income remember that
+
Trainers sale by the session.
+
Vitamins and supplements = money

Now if your successful you may be able to pay off your loan in a few years and everything else you’ll make is profit including the residual income.

So basically if you have a big capitol meaning a large sum of money to get everything started i think its a great investment.

Its all about location and how well you market your gym.

Now as far as how payroll works…such as how you pay yourself or so…i am not too sure how that works.

Remember you can either strike gold or go bankrupt. email me if you have questions i may be able to help xxsicrokerxx@yahoo.com

I am going into a Health club for 45 mins tonight, what can I do to get in shape for basketball?

January 23, 2010 - 10:59 pm 4 Comments

I already worked on my post moves/ scrimaged for an hour at open gym today, but we start 4 hour practices on November 17th and I NEED to be in shape. What serious conditioning workout should I do?

Sophmore in High school, female.

oh man i remember in basketball we had to do some crazy stuff. heres some thingz u should do: do cycles (theres something called a cycle where u can go up or down) up is where u start at tha baseline, then u run to the free throw line (closest to u) and back 2x, then run to the half court line and back 3x, then to the other free throw line and back 4x, then whole court and back 5x. cycle down is the same as cycle up but u do it backwards. (u got whole court and back 5x first, then the other free throw line and back 4x etc.) u can do sum pushups, situps, weight lift, etc. to get u in shape. hope i helped.

The Sad Story of George Sidoni – ‘The LA Fitness Killer’

January 18, 2010 - 5:38 pm No Comments

4th August 2009
Four people were killed, including the gunman, during a horrific shooting at the LA Fitness Center in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania, a small community near Pittsburgh. The gunman walked into an aerobics class of all women and turned out the lights… He kept a blog of his journey.

It’s quite clear to me that Sidoni had a broken heart, which was never healed. It’s these kind of scenarios that allow us to lose rationality and partake in the irrational. Coupled with lonliness the pain causes a self destructive mindset as one thinks they are not good enough. They say “It is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all.” What do you think?
