Is Athletic Training a good undergraduate degree for someone who wants to be a Physical Therapist?

Honestly, I am iffy about the Physical Therapy because of the added school time I will need. BUT with Athletic Training I’ll be doing so many cool things like I’d be doing as a PT, but with only 4 years of school. Either way. If I wanted to do the DPT, I could just apply to graduate school.

One of my close friends is majoring in Athletic Training. There’s lots of options from there and if you’re not completely sure about the Physical Therapy but are sure about Athletic Training, then I highly suggest going for it.

This would be a fine choice…you might have to take a couple courses outside your major in order to get the PT prerequisites, but it should be minimal. Just be aware that the job market for athletic trainers is not nearly that open as a PT…most ATCs I know wound up in sales or going back to PT school because of the lack of jobs. …but I do think it’s a good undergraduate major if you do want to be a PT
