HELP! when people leave school they are advised to join a health club, but why?

Because a lot of teenagers are stupid and when they leave school they don’t stay active or eat right so they need extra help also you wont have pe and stuff although when I left school I didn’t get fat some people I know did.

New York health club "clean" towels are actually dirty and smelly. How to handle?

The New York Sports club has supposedly clean towels that are anything but clean. They smell, are sometimes stained and members are getting infections/viruses on their hands and other parts of their body. Management is indifferent; they say "Hey, if you don’t like it, quit!" However, the local indpendent spas are no better. Lugging large towels to the gym are a logistical nightmare. Should the members go to the news media? Or are there health code laws being violated?

Lawsuit. Just mention it casually to the manager or owner as you are leaving. Also mention health code violations, reckless endangerment, and then "lawsuit" again for good measure. After all, they really are endangering you, since Hepatitis B or A are a very real possibility here, as well as some necrotising forms of Staph. In my opinion, shooting them would be an excellent idea – but I’m a Texan…hey.

Should I demand a discount at my Health Club?

They recently cut some services at my Heath Club but I am still paying the same amount. Aren’t I entitled to a discount if I am getting less for my money? It’s not my fault memebership is down. Why should I be punished?

I think asking for a lower rate or having the option of getting out of your contract would be reasonable to find something that better suits your needs seeing as to how your current health club is unable to accommodate you.

How do you know if the sauna and or the hot tub at a health club is towel/swimsuit optional?

I am traveling an I prefer to go naked in the sauna and hot tub, but how can I know the policy? I would also prefer not to ask someone.

I don’t know where you are travelling to, so the following is generic advice for anywhere on the planet.

Check the terms and conditions or policies on the website or displayed in the club.
Check any pictures on the website – but bear in mind that it’s very rare for a club that allows nudity to show nudity in the pictures.
Turn up and play it by ear.
If people can be naked outside the sauna or beside the hot tub, it’s OK inside. This means German-style mixed thermal suites, oriental bath houses and some changing room based facilities.

Hot tub:
If it’s beside a pool, assume a swimsuit is required.
If it’s in a separate area to the pool and private, assume a swimsuit is not required.
If it’s in a thermal suite where all or most people are naked / covered in towels, it is optional.
Ditto for changing rooms.
If in doubt, wear a swimsuit.

Sauna:
Even saunas that declare that swimwear is required will usually allow you to be covered by a towel instead. In hotel based health clubs there are a lot of people who are not regulars and will not be aware of the policy either. You should always have a towel underneath you if you are not wearing a costume as sitting directly onto the benches will nearly always produce a comment from other users whereas nudity is often ignored.
Always be prepared to cover up if requested.
If in doubt, wear a towel.

Can a health club legally insist upon an escort for a mentally disabled member?

I have a friend with well controlled schizophrenia and OCD. I can’t imagine that she would have hurt anyone or damaged anything. She is not a danger to herself either but she acts oddly, lacks manners, and uses the showers and sinks excessively due to OCD.

Still, it seems unreasonable for them to have taken her money (at least the initial joining fee since she will otherwise have to pay it again somewhere else) and then exclude her by demanding something she can’t provide. Can they do this? What are her rights and how can they be protected?

They have to allow you to use the facilities, but also with accommodation. If she is disturbing other people, and being rude is not acceptable, then yes, they can require that she has assistance in order to use the facilities while not violating any other persons rights.

how do i cancel my Go Health Club membership?

I have been a member of Go Health club now for 6 mth and on an 18mth contract. I recently became single with 3 kids and rent to pay. I informed the club of this saying that i am in financial hardship, they want me to prove it by getting a financial advisor to prove to them that i am in financial gardship WTF!!!! I am now on the pension- what more do they want ??? how the hell can i afford a financial advisor and why should i . What can i do???

Don’t go through the Gym, most Gyms use another company to handle customer accounts, most likely ABC financial. Simply ask what the process is for cancelling, without giving them reason.

Worst case scenario, no longer allow them to take the money (cancel credit card or cancel back account). You may take a hit to the credit rating, but sometimes that’s what happens in a financial hardshit.

I assume he wants nothing since he never talks or says hi to me in the health club. but when im not at the health club he follows me and watches me then drives off. what does he want. what will he do next? do you think he will eventually stop? i tink he knows that i know but dont act like i really care.
