how much is the monthly fee at Commonwealth Sports Club in Boston?

February 28, 2010 - 12:40 am 2 Comments

any body know how much is the monthly and enrollment fee at commonwealthsportsclub.com ?

I paid $99 to enroll, and $79 per month. But they seem to run a special in January or so where the enrollment is free. If you refer to that, they might waive the fee. They also have student rates, senior rates, probably looking hot rates.

Where can I find a sports club to play squash in Venice Beach Los Angeles, CA?

February 26, 2010 - 3:27 am 1 Comment

Here for a few months, need a place where I can pay by the game / hour and not pay a membership fee for a long period.

I don’t know about Venice Beach, but the best squash facility in Southern California is at the Los Angeles Athletic Club in downtown LA. Lots of westside people drive to downtown to play there.

Check it out at www.laac.com

Why do sports club have mascots and what is the origin of this?

February 22, 2010 - 2:28 am 1 Comment

Historically "mascots" were used to bring luck to the team. Today this tradition continues, but mascots are now chosen more for showing the team spirit i.e. "Fighting Irish"…etc.etc.
The mascots are always related to the local traditions, nationality and customs of where a team is located. Like the Seattle Seahawks. Pacific Northwest Indian tribes from the Seattle area carved many Totem Poles with tribal images of Hawks. The Team chose that mascot for luck and tradition and for the spirit of speed, grace and accuracy.

Do you belong to a club or sports team at your school?

February 20, 2010 - 3:32 am 4 Comments

I’m starting high school soon. I’m not to sure of the activites or clubs that they have but i know that they have sports for sure. I am not good at sports what so ever and you have to try out for the team. I am also not in band or anything like that. What else is there? Should i try out for the sports team anyways and maybe i’ll meet some new friends there?
What are some good clubs to join where i can meet some good friends?

thanks!

I do sports all year around. It’s a good way to spend your time–staying healthy and meeting new people.

As for clubs, I recently joined a film club.
We make films…
You can be an actor, a camera person, a set designer, director, or a clothing designer. So…it’s just plain fun.
