Is sports management a good thing to major in? Should you minor in something? What jobs can you get before moving up to an athletic director?

Coaching experience is almost always required if you want to be an athletic director. Therefore, you should major in education or physical education so that you can work in a school and also coach a sport. Some states require that coaches (high school) must have a minor in coaching, so it might be good to minor in that. Most schools require that you have a master’s degree to be an athletic director. The job that you get before moving up to athletic director is usually teacher/coach.

However, this is all going to end because my district is moving into a different athletic conference, with bigger and better schools. I know that many parents & students are furious and are going to appeal, but who should we talk to? The board of education, the activities coordinator, or the superintendent?

That different athletic conference would surely be a big help.

No you really cant because of the grass if you wear just shoes you’ll slip around and can injure yourself its not worth it. You can try websites like eastbay.com, footballamerica.com, or footlocker.com. there are a lot more sites but those are the ones that come to mind

It would also assist in taking some pressure off of our health services.

A ten minute video demonstrating basic military PT should suffice and save a lot of money. You don’t need much space to use your own bodyweight around and still get in better shape than most people do with tons of equipment. Want weights? Get a sandbag. Need aerobic fitness..lace up your shoes and carry that sandbag up a hill. It is real simple folks.

I went to a parkour fitness place and saw a dog walking around through all the people who were working out and it seemed really unhealthy. It wasn’t a helper dog, it was just the owner’s dog walking around, jumping on the equipment that people would be using and working out as if it were a person. The place is just meant for human use though. Is that not illegal?

Contact the management! Maybe they’re not aware of what the owner’s dog is doing.

Most dogs are filthy with their excrement, worms and parasite. You don’t want those on the exercise equipment you’re gonna use next.

There are enough problems with staph & MRSA from gym equipment to worry about dog-borne pathogens also.

==========

I would also consider changing fitness centers, since this one is clearly not conducive to good health!

I started smoking 2 months ago, I smoke 4 cigarettes a day, sometimes 6-7 on weekends. Im going to stop in August, will my athletic ability be affected or will I still be healthy when the football season starts.

Considering you’re not up to a pack a day it’s not that serious yet. It wont have any major effects now, but the longterm ones will bite you in the ass if you don’t quit SOON. You probably want to quit 3-4 months before season. After quitting you will get sick and congested (you will be coughing up mucus for a while, its good though it means your body is recovering from that nasty stuff) You’ll need a month for sickness, a month for recovery (rebuild your immune system, cut junkfood for a week or two) and lastly a month for training your lungs to hold the regular amount of air it used to. Good luck!! :3

You should at least have some varsity level coaching experience, and preferably some coaching experience in more than one sport. If you want to be in a high school setting, you should have teaching credentials, probably in phys. ed. so that you are qualified to supervise all the sports activities. If you want to be AD in a college, you should still be a PE major but having teaching credentials would not be required. You would probably need even more coaching experience, I would guess.
