Because of the "obesity" of the Canadian population would you consider financial assistance to health clubs.?

This could be a boost to people who are overweight but cannot afford to join the Y etc.,
It would also assist in taking some pressure off of our health services.

A ten minute video demonstrating basic military PT should suffice and save a lot of money. You don’t need much space to use your own bodyweight around and still get in better shape than most people do with tons of equipment. Want weights? Get a sandbag. Need aerobic fitness..lace up your shoes and carry that sandbag up a hill. It is real simple folks.

Is it illegal for dogs to walk around freely into fitness centers or health clubs meant for humans?

February 14, 2012 - 2:04 am 4 Comments

I went to a parkour fitness place and saw a dog walking around through all the people who were working out and it seemed really unhealthy. It wasn’t a helper dog, it was just the owner’s dog walking around, jumping on the equipment that people would be using and working out as if it were a person. The place is just meant for human use though. Is that not illegal?

Contact the management! Maybe they’re not aware of what the owner’s dog is doing.

Most dogs are filthy with their excrement, worms and parasite. You don’t want those on the exercise equipment you’re gonna use next.

There are enough problems with staph & MRSA from gym equipment to worry about dog-borne pathogens also.

==========

I would also consider changing fitness centers, since this one is clearly not conducive to good health!

it’s also called being a fatty, I’m kind of…how do you say, umm hearty…and I fear that I might break a machine and have to pay for it.

I broke a Breathalyzer machine once at a bar, I just ran away bouncing off the other patrons with my hands waving frantically and yelling " YOWSA"
your no fatty, maybe perkishly plump

Does anyone know of any nice clean health clubs in Mississauga?

I’m looking for a place that’s clean, that has new or newer equipment. Any ideas or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

These are all the services for this gym or fitness center. They have been filled out by either a Myfit.ca employee, a visitor of the gym, or an employee of the facility. A checked service means they have that available

Are most health clubs a bad investment?

Virtually every health club (gym) I have ever been to has gone out of business. It seems like fitness centers are the only enterprise that actually goes out of business by selling more memberships. I have noticed that almost every health club has the same problem. First they sell a lot of memberships, then they get too crowded, then memberships drop off, then they go out of business.

I don’t really know, but one time my Dad bought into an embalming fluid business and told me that successful businessmen don’t buy restaurants, racehorses, or vineyards because everyone wants to make money with those. Instead they buy embalming fluid businesses because everyone else thinks that’s yucky. Seems to me that health clubs fall more in line with restaurants, racehorses and vineyards then they do with embalming fluids.

TRUE or FALSE: Health Clubs and Fitness Gyms are the best places to find Your Ideal Partner?

I based this question on personal experience..not mine but Liesy’s..she was always getting hit on when she went to the GYM..She decided to play her MP3’s loud and ignore them all..Heaps of sordid affairs went on in that GYM.

NO. Talk about superficial.

thank you, Muttz4Agility. youre very sweet-
im not overweight, i just have zero muscle mass.
maybe thats what im so insecure about, i gotta get JUICED.
thanks for the help everyone.

First of all, congrats on taking your first step towards a healthier life!

I know how you feel. I am one of those people that actually NEEDS to go to the gym, not a skinny bimbo with big boobs trying to pick up guys at the gym (haha I make myself laugh). I am overweight I am am especially self conscious about my thighs. If that is the case with you, just wear long gym pants that are made of light material until you are comfortable wearing shorts. When you first start out, keep it simple. You’re not trying to impress anyone. Just take a walk on the treadmill for 30-45 minutes most days of the week. Then, when you feel you are ready to move up, try the elliptical. One step at a time.

Also, go to the gym in the morning if possible, not the afternoon or evening. That is when the gym is most busy and all the size 0 models come in. Late morning (about 10am) is when my gym is most empty. Good Luck!

do health clubs legally have to clean their equipment?

February 28, 2011 - 2:13 am 3 Comments

at my health club I never see anyone employed wiping the machines for disinfecting purposes.

I have never heard of any law that requires it, but if someone were to get an infection from one of the machines then the health club could be sued for negligence.
